Algotherapy- The use of Algaes (either fresh or seawater derived) in skin care, baths, body scrubs, wraps, facials, etc.)

Anti-Aging Medicine- Anti-aging medicine is a clinical medical specialty focusing on optimum wellness and longevity via comprehensive preventative health care testing and diagnostic services including: lifestyle modification, nutrition therapy, fitness therapies, anti-stress therapies, vitamin therapy and hormone balancing.

Aromatherapy- The therapeutic use of plant essential oils.

Ayurvedic Therapies- 4000-year-old Indian treatments with oils, massage, and herbs, that considers the “whole” person in healing techniques.

Balneology- Referring to the therapeutic use and effects of various baths.

Biomagnetic Therapy- For centuries the use of magnets has been found effective for a variety of physical problems.

Botox- BOTOX® is a formulation of botulinum toxin type A. It is derived from the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. This bacterium produces a protein that blocks the release of acetycholine and relaxes muscles. Botox is a new concept in treating facial wrinkles in the forehead, between the eyes, and in the “crows feet” areas (upper third of the face). Botox works by weakening the muscles of facial expressions. Once the resting tones of the treated muscles are weakened, the pull on the muscles relaxes and the overlying skin flattens.

Camouflage- Makeup Concealers are used to cover discolorations or bruising. Camouflage cosmetics tend to be thicker than regular makeup cosmetics so they can blend and hide bruising or visible incision lines. Most camouflage can be used under your regular foundation or alone.

Cellulite Treatments- Cellulite treatment programs use advanced technology to combine subatmospheric pressure with a state-of-the-art mechanical massage to enhance your slimmer, trimmer figure and eliminate rippling effects of cellulite.

Chemical Peels- Facial peels are used to reduce wrinkling, especially that which is associated with sun damage, acne scars, other blemishes, and areas of uneven skin pigmentation. This is achieved by either chemical (including glycolic acid, trichloroacetic acid, phenol), mechanical (dermabrasion, microdermabrasion) or laser applications.

Chiropractic Spa- As well as Chiropractic treatment, a range of other treatments, such as massages, manicures and facials are available.

Collagen Injection- Injectable collagen implant works by supplementing your body’s own natural collagen support layer. The liquid injectable collagen is injected through a small needle directly through the wrinkle, skin crease, or skin fold into the support layer just beneath the surface of the skin. The extra support provided by the injectable collagen raises the treated area so that the wrinkle, skin crease, or skin fold disappears.

Color Therapy- Color therapy (also known as chromotherapy) is based on the fact that physiologic functions to specific colors. Attached to the brain are pineal glands, which control the daily rhythms of life. When light enters through the eyes (or the skin) it travels neurological pathways to these pineal glands. Different colors give off different wavelength frequencies and these different frequencies have different effect on physical and psychological functions.

Craniosacral Therapy- Within the craniosacral system is the cerebrospinal fluid that moves in a slight but perceptible tide-like manner. Craniosacral therapists assist in facilitating change in areas of restriction where this tide-like motion is limited, confined, and immobilized. By using a gentle light touch, this fluid becomes more rhythmic and balanced, and the central nervous system is restored. Craniosacral therapy is helpful to those with nervous disorders, insomnia, and other problems. Craniosacral therapy was originally developed in the early 1900’s by an osteopath name William G. Sutherland and later refined and promoted by Dr. John Upledger.

Cryotherapy- A treatment for age spots, cryotherapy is a freezing process applied directly to age spots and other discolorations of the skin, particularly on the hands and chest.

Crymetra- Replacement filler product manufactured by OMD to enhance lips and reduce wrinkles. Unlike collagen there is no need for allergy pre-testing and causes no inflammation.

Dental Spa- Aside from dental treatments, including cosmetic dentistry, a range of treatments such as massages, manicures and facials are available to ease anxieties of patients.

Please note that "dental spa" is defined as "a facility whose dental program is run under the strict supervision of a licensed dentist. Services are provided that integrate both traditional and non-traditional dental and spa treatments" (such as massages, facial, body treatments)

Derma Peel® with Sodium Bicarbonate-This is the traditional Microdermabrasion treatment using negative
Practical Skin Resurfacing action dermabrasion. Here however, we have decided to use Sodium Bicarbonate instead of Aluminum Oxide particles. Non-invasive and non-surgical, this procedure uses a highly controlled spray of fine crystals to remove the outer layer of skin and reveal the younger, tighter, and more radiant skin underneath. Common treatments include: blackheads, whiteheads, fine lines/wrinkles, sun-damaged skin, acne prone skin, superficial age spots, and oily skin.

DermaPhoresis®- This combination of positive action Salt-A-Peel microdermabrasion, ultrasound technology, and a high potency AHA / Antioxidant cream removes the thickened, stretch marks, fine lines and sun-damaged out layer of the skin while allowing the proprietary cream to travel further into the lower layers of the skin.

Dermaplaning-Using short, precise movements, an aesthetician grazes a scalpel across the face, scraping away dead cells on the surface.

Diode LightSheer Laser®- Laser pulses for a fraction of a second vaporizing the pigment
Hair Removal disabling several hair follicles at a time to eliminate or significantly impede the hair’s regrowth. LightSheer’s special contact-cooling hand piece cools and protects the surrounding skin while bringing the laser energy as close as possible to the hair root.

Electrolysis- Individual hair removal is done by transmitting an electrical current into the hair root where the hair releases. This destroys the root and hair cannot regrow.

Electropigmentation- A corrective cosmetic technique that is classified as “non-surgical”. Many people take advantage of electropigmentation to have makeup permanently applied, most often eyeliner or lip pigmentation; some individuals use elctropigmentation to correct facial asymmetries or to mask scars. The procedure used for clinical eletropigmentation is identical to tattooing. Pigments are mixed and then applied using a series of needles. Eletropigmentation inserts the pigment just below the dermis layer of the skin.

Endermologie- Massages performed by a special piece of equipment, such as LPG, a controlled, repeatable deep mechanical therapeutic massage device. It is assisted by suction and two rollers to outperform manual massage, benefiting the skin and subcutaneous tissue by promoting microcirculation. The suction improves circulation, so that the puckering (of cellulite) is eased. Clients experience the benefit of temporarily improved body contouring and skin conditioning.

Epidermabrasion- A non-aggressive resurfacing treatment, performed to improve skin texture, tone and remove imperfections without the use of harsh chemicals.

Fotofacial™- Treatments apply to full face, neck and/or check using pulses of intense light to resolve facial redness, flushing, pigment problems, and sun damage. New collagen growth is stimulated to improve skin texture, increase skin smoothness and reduce pore size.

Glycolic Acid Peel- After preparing the skin, a glycolic acid concentration from 20% to 70% will be applied resulting in smoother, youthful appearing skin of more uniform color. Weekly facial peels for a period of about 6 weeks are typical for most individuals.

Herbology- Therapeutic use of herbs in treatments and diet

Homeopathy- Treating desease with tiny doses of natural-like substances.

Hydrotherapy- Referring to the therapeutic use of water in any of its various forms: sea water, mineral water, baths, showers, underwater massage, ice, etc.

Intense Pulse Laser- Laser treatment used to reverse and restore skin damaged by sunlight and smoking

Iridology- A theory that links markings in the iris of the eye to the condition of organs of the body.

Jessner Peel- A combination of lactic acid, salicylic acid and resorcinol, an exfoliating agent, Jessner is on the milder side of the medium peels. It doesn’t have the strength of the Obaji blue peel, but works in a similar manner, exfoliating and reaching into the dermis to stimulate collagen production.

Laser- “Light amplification stimulated by the emission of radiation”

Laser Hair Removal- Lasers emit a gentle beam of light that passes through the skin to the hair follicle where it is absorbed. The energy from the laser is converted into heat that paralyzes the hair follicle while leaving surrounding skin unharmed. This method of hair removal eliminates 60 times the hair per treatment than electrolysis.

Laser Resurfacing- Or laser peel, laser rejuvenation, laser surgery, is the act of using carbon dioxide (CO2), erbium, pulse dye or other laser to remove wrinkles, discolorations, age spots, and sun damaged skin or stimulate the body’s fibroblasts to “grow” collagen to treat the wrinkle from within. The laser is passed over the treatment area to eradicate wrinkles around the eyes and mouth or anywhere there are unsightly lines, hyperpigmentation or blemishes.

Laser Vein Removal- Laser therapy is a safe, effective, non-surgical treatment option for the removal of spider and small varicose veins. The treatment is performed by applying the laser on the vein to be removed. Brief light pulses are delivered to the vein, causing the vessel to coagulate and subsequently be absorbed by the body.

Lymphatic Drainage- In the 1930s, a Danish doctor, Hans Vodder, noticed the connection between swollen and blocked lymph glands and colds, infections and other ailments. Since the lymph system is designed to remove bacteria and toxins from the body, he reasoned that massaging the lymph system would improve the flow of lymph and benefit the patient. Together with his wife, a massage practitioner, they developed a specific technique that massages the lymph nodes and lymph system using light rhythmic strokes. A characteristic of lymph system massage is that strokes are always with the muscle fiber, rather than cross-fiber, because the lymph system runs in the direction of the muscle fiber.

Medical Massage- Medical massage therapy focuses on assisting the body in its natural healing processes, Very specific massage modalities such as cranial sacral, myofascial, lymphatic, neuromuscular, traeger, etc. fall under the category of medical massage.

Medical Scalp Treatment- Involving scalp biopsies and medical treatment using minidoxil, hormones and steroid injections.

Medical Spa- A facility that presents a merger of medical practice and spa therapies.

Microdermabrasion- Aluminum oxide crystals are deposited on the skin surface under pressure, similar to mild sandblasting, and suctioned away. Dead epithelial cells on the surface of the skin and oily plugs in pores are removed. Collagen formation is stimulated by the mild, controlled injury.

Micropigmentation- Creates “permanent makeup” by implanting pigment granules below the epidermis for cosmetic or corrective reasons. Micropigmentation resembles a tattoo, in that needles penetrate the skin a few millimeters, depositing the pigment. Micopigmentation patients have their eyebrows, lashes, and lips done, or combat scarring and vitiligo.

Modified Jessner- This treatment is a true chemical peel that will dissolve multiple skin layers of epidermis. It is designed to correct severe sun damage and to even out the surface of the skin. Lines and wrinkles are greatly reduced.

Myofascial Massage- This is a form of bodywork that is manipulative in nature and uses long, slow, stretching strokes to release tension in the fascia, the tissue structure which lines and covers nearly everything inside and around our bodies.

Myontology- This form of facial toning through microcurrents has been used for Bells Palsy since 1970. Now this revolutionary idea is being used to tone facial and body muscles, reduce signs of wrinkles and gives you a visible lift.

Naturopathy- Natural healing prescriptions that use plants and flowers.

Nonablative Procedures- Treatment that does not remove the epidermis and as such leads to a wound in the second layer of skin – the dermis. The body’s response is to produce collagen.

Nutritional Analysis- The analysis of an individual’s eating habits and dietary needs.

Oriental Medicine- Personal health analysis usually performed by feeling one’s pulse on various areas of the body, examining one’s tongue and followed by acupressure and herbal recommendations so-as-to balance one’s energy (Chi).

Oxygen Therapy- Transporting large volumes of pure oxygen into tissues, accelerating the regeneration of skin cells. Oxygen therapy increases collagen and elastin, heals microfractures and fissures, and has anti-inflammatory effect on the skin.

Peloid Therapy- The therapeutic use and applications of muds.

Permanent Makeup- Permanent makeup utilizes a tattooing technique to insert pigments under the dermis layer of skin (see micropigmentation)

Photorejuvenation- Pulse of light are transmitted through a small, smooth, flat glass handpiece which is gently placed over the skin. This is used to smooth wrinkles and diminish the appearance of age spots, broken capillaries and rosacea.

Positive Action Salt-a-Peel®- This exclusive new system builds on traditional micro peel technology by adding a combination of integrated skin care products and positive pressure salt abrasion for better results. Great for reducing the look of stretch marks, find lines/wrinkles, acne scars, sun damaged skin, age spots, uneven skin tone, and just a wonderful skin maintenance program. This quick “lunchtime” treatment allows you to resume normal activities immediately.

Pulse Point Therapy- Re-establishes communication between bones, organs, muscles, emotions and glands to create internal harmony.

Radio Wave- Using radio-frequency energy to heat the skin, the new Thermacool treatment causes underlying collagen to shrink and contract, resulting in a slight “mini lift”.

Salicylic Peel- A bet hydroxyl peel. It is self-neutralizing and has limited penetration. Similar to the Glycolic peel, the Salicylic peel promotes the exfoliation of the outer surface of the skin.

Sclerotherapy Venulectasia- is the name for unsightly surface blue veins (venules). These are often referred to as “thread veins” and are smaller than varicose veins. A stron solution (the sclerosant) is injected directly into the venules causing inflammation of the walls of the vessel. The venules disappear over a few weeks to months.

Skin Bleaching- Active bleaching agents such as kojic acid and hydroquinone sometimes combined with glycolic acid is applied directly to freckles, age spots or other dark spots.

Soft Light® Laser Hair Removal- Using a patented carbon cream, this laser skin peel uses the light of the low-powered SoftLight nd:YAG laser to gently exfoliate the skin leaving it softer, smoother, and glowing. The large carbon particles in this specially formulated cream travel beneath the upper layers of the skin where the laser light gently evaporates them removing the harsh sun-damaged layers. Excellent for dark spots and improvement of skin tone.

Spa Dentistry- A facility whose dental program is under strict supervision of a licensed dentist providing dental services that integrate traditional and non-traditional dental and spa treatments such as massage, skincare, hand and foot treatments and body treatments.

Sugi Therapy- Utilizing the principles of Yin Yang, Five Elements and the Twelve Meridians this unique Korean approach to healing may curb generic illnesses.

TCA- This is a non-toxic chemical peel, used for more than 30 years. A TCA peel causes top layers of skin cells to dry up and peel off revealing fresher, more youthful looking skin in 5-7 days.

Thalassotherapy- Water treatments that use seawater, seaweed, algae, and sea air, an ancient Greek therapy.

Ultrasound- Ultrasound or ultrasonography is a medical imaging technique that uses high frequency sound waves and their echoes. The ultrasound machine transmits high-frequency sound pulses into your body using a probe. The sound waves travel into your body and hit a boundary between tissues (e.g. between fluid and soft tissue, soft tissue and bone). Some of the sound waves get reflected back to the probe, while some travel on further until they reach another boundary a get reflected. The reflected waves are picked up by the probe and relayed to the machine. The machine calculates the distance from the probe to the tissue or organ (boundaries) using the speed of sound in tissue and the time of each of the echo’s return. The machine displays the distances and intensities of the echoes on the screen, forming a two dimensional image.

V-Beam Laser- Used to treat facial veins, leg veins, port wine stains, hermangioma, stretch marks, scars, rosacea and warts.

Vein Removal Sclerotherapy-, a tiny needle is used to inject the skin with a medication that results in collapsing the veins, which are then reabsorbed. Veins can be treated early, avoiding complications.

Vitamin Therapy- Vitamin therapy is the use of specific vitamins in amounts which could be equal to or considerably greater than the recommended daily allowance of RDA.
